Goal: $10,000.00
Specific Need
NAME OF ORGANIZATION: New Eternal Hope Fellowship Hall
The organization is operated by the Eternal Hope Worship Center at 410 East Iowa.
Their goal is to build a new fellowship hall from which the food distribution would be made for the Mobile Food Pantry from Second Harvest and the TEFAP commodities for the low income residents of North Brown County. Volunteers from the Hiawatha community and surrounding communities come together to distribute the food. The church has been handling this for several years and feels that this activity greatly benefits the needy in our local area.
The Mobile Food Pantry is distributed the second Thursday of each month and is open to anyone who needs food. Generally there are around 200 families receiving food each month.
TEFAP commodities are distributed every other month, usually the fourth Wednesday of the month in the even months: February, April, June, August, October, and December. TEFAP commodities are available to income qualifying individuals who are required to sign up for them, and provide proof of identification when picking them up. Generally there are over 80 families receiving the TEFAP food commodities each time.
The Eternal Hope Worship Center also offers their facility (the new Fellowship Hall) to cook and serve funeral dinners to those families who have no place to meet with their family and friends after a funeral. Free will offerings may be given to cover costs, but are not required.
The old fellowship hall downtown has been sold and it is necessary to build a replacement building next to the church for those activities.
