HES PTO

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

The PTO's Preschool Playground Project would like to provide equipment for a designated Pre-K playground on the school grounds that is age-appropriate for our Pre-K students. The equipment and surrounding area would allow the Pre-K students to play safely on equipment and engage in stimulating peer-to-peer interactions. At this time, the preschool students play on the same equipment on which the older students play. Some of the play sets are tall, which require close monitoring by the Pre-K staff to maintain student safety. We believe we can also provide more equipment that facilitates better imaginary play, which would target more play-based learning experiences for our preschoolers.

Mission

Hiawatha Elementary School PTO:

  • complements student learning
  • supports teachers and staff
  • fosters parental involvement that enriches and supports education.

Profile

The HES PTO also has a separate bank account with which we use to fund field trips, teacher projects or supplies, and school reward events. The foundation fund will be specifically used to build a Pre-K playground. This project has been approved by the HES principal and the Board of Education. In addition to these funds, the Board of Education and the Special Education Interlocal Board have agreed to assist in this project if we are able to provide additional funds.
