Hiawatha Foundation for Economic Development

Goal: $20,000.00

Specific Need

Business recruitment and retention is at the heart of every HFED initiative as we work to position Hiawatha as a progressive community that will thrive and flourish well into the future. With an eye on the current and future needs of Hiawatha, it's become apparent that Hiawatha needs more skilled trades professionals to serve the community. We plan to use your generous donations to provide incentives for recipients of certificates or degrees from accredited post-secondary institutions to begin residing and working in Hiawatha within their chosen professions.

With trade careers in high demand, these graduates could choose to go anywhere upon completing their schooling. We would love to give hometown graduates starting in these careers the opportunity to come home. We'd also love to welcome new residents to our community and invite them to put down roots as they establish their new careers. Incentives made possible by your donations would help Hiawatha stand out among other communities and greatly increase the chance that more of these new professionals would choose Hiawatha as the place to make their home and begin their careers.

Mission

To grow Hiawatha by recruiting new business and retaining current business

Profile

HFED's been proud to be a part of some impactful projects that have improved Hiawatha, and we can't wait for this to be the next one!

From recruiting some of Hiawatha's largest businesses, to securing grants for local organizations, to donating more than $40,000 to create COVID relief grants for local businesses, to our most recent success of spearheading a new housing development project for Hiawatha, HFED takes pride in helping Hiawatha to be a community that is positioned for sustained success.

The new six duplex (12 units) development planned for the west end of town is an important first step toward what we hope will become a larger movement to provide more adequate housing options in Hiawatha. Adquate housing is critical so that we can continue to recruit new business and new residents to the community while retaining what is already here.

Providing incentives to grow the trade workforce in Hiawatha is the next step in making living and working in Hiawatha great. We invite you to join us in this next endeavor and please consider donating to our fund. We would be wildly appreciative!
